Aerotropolis is the term used to define the Cities that are emerging around Airports across the world with Cargo, work, Leisure and hospitality provisions.
Airports across the world are rejigging their business models to incorporate more revenue generating entities to shore up their Non aeronautical revenues that befit the large scale investment being pumped into the projects. Aeronautical revenues alone will not justify the quantum investments being funnelled into the projects.
Airports have now transformed as the Business hubs breeding new age revenue streams, cargo centres facilitating agile logistics solutions, Entertainment and conference centres leveraging the large footfalls and as the recreational zones to cater to these vast numbers. All these activities are creating new city around the airport, that is being called as the Aerotropolis, a brand new Metropolis around the airport.
